All aboard! The Autumn Colors Express is gearing up for what promises to be its best season yet. This one-of-a-kind trip through the New River Gorge is an adventure that everyone in West Virginia should experience.
The excursion begins at promptly 7:00 a.m. when the train boards. Shortly after, the train will depart the historic Chesapeake & Ohio railway station in downtown Huntington. The last time a C&O train left this station was 1971!
You can sit back and relax as the vintage locomotive takes you from one incredible attraction to the next. The first stop of the day is Charleston, where passengers are also invited to board the train. From there, you’ll want to look out for the scenic Kanawha Falls.
After passing through the abandoned town of Thurmond, the train will arrive in Hinton, West Virginia at approximately 11:30 a.m. Passengers will have the opportunity to stretch their legs, find a local spot for lunch, and enjoy the autumn scenery of this historic train town.
At 3:00 p.m. the train will depart from Hinton and make its way back to Huntington, where it will arrive around 7:00 p.m. On the way back, you can look forward to the same breathtaking scenery you enjoyed on the first leg of the trip.
