Elkins is a great place to visit for its popular annual Polar Express train ride. Get tickets early in the year, because they sell out fast!

Shepherdstown really gets into the spirit of the season with events and celebrations all month long.

Lotito City Park in Bluefield has an impressive display of over 900,000 lights. You can also see a live nativity scene, and take a trolley or a hayride. The Holiday of Lights is open 6:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and from 6:00-10:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. The last night to visit is New Year's Eve. The activities are free, but the park appreciates donations.

These historic homes of millionaires will be elaborately decorated for the holidays, and some even open up for visitors to tour.

If you've missed your chance to ride the Polar Express, you can still take the Elf Limited train ride from Cass. The town also decorates the historic company houses and holds special events for the holidays.

Morris Park has a light display that's open each evening Friday-Sunday during the Christmas season. Fairmont will also have a Christmas parade on Saturday, December 10 at 5 PM.

The historic farm at the State Farm Museum will be covered in lights! There will be visits from Santa Claus from 6pm to 9pm nightly, December 9 - 18. The farm will serve free hot cocoa and cookies. Donations are accepted. Address: 1458 Fairground Rd, Point Pleasant, WV 25550

The Greenbrier Resort is stunning during the holiday season. You can attend weekly tree lighting ceremonies, or take a trolley rides, or horse and carriage ride to enjoy the lights. In addition to many events around the community, there will be a Christmas parade with floats on December 3rd at 2:00pm.

The brightly lit displays at the City Park will light up from 6-10 each night. Address: 350 7th St, Parkersburg, West Virginia. There are also activities and beautifully decorated trees at the Blennerhassett hotel.

Don't miss Appalachian Coal Town Christmas at the Beckley Exhibition Mine this weekend. You can celebrate Christmas in a old coal town!

The St. Albans light display will be open nightly from November 25-December 26, from 6pm - 9pm. The display will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Address: City Park Rd, St Albans, WV 25177.

The Winter Festival of Lights is a spectacular celebration at the Oglebay Resort. The holiday activities last through January 8th.

The 46th Annual Harpers Ferry Olde Tyme Christmas will take place Fri-Sun Dec 2-4, and Sat-Sun Dec 10-11. Find details about the event here.
