This winter is proving to be especially brutal in Washington, and parents are dreaming of the day when it’s warm enough to let their little ones run wild and free outdoors. Parents, your day is coming… and when it does, take the family to Fort Steilacoom Park.

Fort Steilacoom Park is the largest park in the Lakewood area.

It features an impressive trail system, baseball and soccer fields, an off-leash dog park and picnic areas.
But the best part of the park is the massive state-of-the-art playground, which looks like something from a children's book.

The history of the park ranges from a military base to a self-sustaining farm for Western State Hospital, and you'll find ruins from the hospital while exploring the park.
