At first glance, Well 80 Brewhouse in Olympia seems like just another brewery and eatery, albeit a modern, stylish one. But all it takes is one sip of the locally made beer to realize that this place is something special. Not only are all the Well 80 beers and ciders made in-house, but they owe their incredible flavors to the water.

Well 80 opened its doors in March of 2018, but its story goes back much, much further.

Owner Chris Knudson and head brewer Paul Pearson took their time with this venture to make sure they got it right.
The story goes all the way back to 1895, when a politician named Leopold Schmidt from Montana traveled to Olympia to observe the construction of Washington's new capitol building.

When Schmidt tried Olympia's amazing well water, he proclaimed, 'With this water, I can brew better beer than ever!' A year later, the Olympia Brewing Company was born, making beer with water from the artesian wells made famous in part by Schmidt.
The phrase 'It's the water' has been popular in Olympia for over a century, and for good reason -- the 96 wells that occupy downtown Olympia hold some tasty water that's just right for brewing.

Well 80 also has a fantastic daily happy hour from 3 - 6 p.m. with plenty of discounted food and drinks.

They're open daily from 11:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., except for Friday and Saturday nights, when you can drink beer until 11.
