Snohomish County is so full of hidden gems, it may as well be its own country (but we are very glad it isn’t). And while Wallace Falls doesn’t exactly qualify as hidden since most Washingtonians know about it, it still requires a bit of a trek to explore it. Luckily, the Wallace Falls Trail is a delightful, well-marked hike that’s sure to convert anyone into a nature lover.

Wallace Falls is a magnificent three-tiered waterfall located near the town of Gold Bar.

The falls, in their entirety, are over 265 feet tall.
The Wallace Falls Trail is a 5.9-mile hike that, despite its length, is suitable for most hikers.

This makes it one of the most popular trails in Washington, and it's easy to see why.
The hike will lead you through the trees along the Wallace River, with gorgeous scenery at every turn.

This is not a boring hike, and you won't want to miss one moment of the visual splendor.
You'll experience a 1,300 foot gain in elevation, although the gain is gradual.

And as you climb, the views will only get more and more spectacular.
Eventually, you'll reach Wallace Falls, which you'll be able to see from several angles.

Wallace Falls is actually a set of nine different cataracts, which is pretty remarkable.
You may want to call it a day at the Middle Falls Overlook. But if you're up for the challenge, you can continue up the steepest grade of the trail, a heart-pumping half mile of switchbacks that lead to the Upper Falls.
