Hey, It’s Christmas In Washington. Here’s What Santa Brought You!
Merry Christmas everyone! It’s the most festive day of the year, and there are all kinds of spectacular presents being shared today. This holiday season, here are 12 gifts in particular that we should all be excited for in Washington:
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here:
1. A stunning white Christmas!
It may not have snowed everywhere, but many of our mountains are scheduled to be open for skiing & snowboarding today, including Steven's Pass and Snoqualmie Pass.
2. Theo Chocolate Bars...
Not only do these scrumptious bars make for perfect stocking stuffers, but the organic, fair trade chocolate is made locally right here in Seattle.
3. ...and some of the best coffee in the country to pair with.
Yum! Here's a warm and delectable
recipe you've got to try out this season.
4. Classic candy canes.
Our state is the largest mint-producing area in the entire world when it comes to peppermint & spearmint, which turns into these classic holiday treats!
5. The lovely red & green scenery in our local orchards.
Without our state producing about 70% of all fresh apples for the country, how would we be able to enjoy sweet apple pie or hot cider this Christmas?
6. A fascinating new book to read.
If you love outdoor adventures,
is highly recommended: "Washington's Pacific Coast: A Guide to Hiking, Camping, Fishing & Other Adventures," by Greg Johnston.
7. Some of the comfiest socks
To many people, socks may seem like a pretty boring and general gift. But to most of us in Washington, a pair of cozy socks makes for one awesome present to help keep your feet warm. Just please don't wear them with sandals...
8. Hops to make delicious beer.
If Washington didn't produce nearly 70% of hops to make beer, we wouldn't be able to enjoy all of our favorite brews this holiday. Not to mention grapes to create wine!
9. Gorgeous coastal scenery that many other places aren't as gifted to have.
Isn't this photo of Ocean Shores breathtaking?? There's truly nothing like living by the Pacific, and there are a lot of places out there who aren't as lucky as us to have beaches to relax on.
10. Almond Roca.
These buttercrunch toffee confections taste even more amazing this time of year. They're produced here in Tacoma by Brown-Haley and make for a delectable Christmas candy.
11. Places to explore in 2016.
for what to do in Washington in 2016! From a picnic at Baker Lake to exploring an abandoned ghost town, there are a wide range of things to start planning out for next year.
12. And the gift that keeps on giving... waterfalls.
Could you ever get tired of looking at beautiful cascades? This hidden gem is known as Twin Falls and can be found near North Bend. Despite a seasonal trail closure, you can still catch a glimpse of the falls by way of the Homestead Valley Trail.
