This Underrated Trail In Washington Leads To A Hidden Turquoise Lake

It’s no secret that Washington has some of the most amazing hiking trails in the country. But some of them stay slightly under the radar, especially the ones like Bead Lake Trail, which sits tucked up by the Idaho border near Newport. This is one hike you’ll definitely want to discover.

Come prepared with your best gear for this hike -- it's over 11 miles "round trip."

To reach the trail, you'll follow US 2 from Newport along the Pend Oreille River, crossing briefly into Idaho before heading back into Washington and driving until you reach the trailhead off Bead Lake Ridge Road.
You'll see a little bit of everything on the trail, from cedar groves to shoreline.
