10 Things That Will Always Make Washingtonians Think Of Home
For one reason or another, life sometimes leads us away from the Evergreen State. But if you’re a born-and-raised Washingtonian, you’ll notice little reminders of home, no matter where you are. These are a few of them.
1. Getting a glimpse of that telltale blue and green.
It doesn't matter if you're a Seahawks fan or not. When you see someone wearing Seahawks swag outside of Washington, you can't help but feel a little nostalgic.
2. Apple orchards.
Washington is the top apple producing state.
3. A really good cup of coffee.
You appreciate good coffee so much more after you leave Washington and realize what else is out there.
4. The county fair.
Whether you "did the Puyallup" as a child or you stuck to a smaller, more local fair, experiencing the fun is a standard part of growing up in Washington.
5. The smell of a rainy day.
Yes, it rains much more on the western side of Washington, but no matter what part of the state you called home, the smell will make you nostalgic.
6. The mountains.
Whether you end up in a flat state or in the heart of the Colorado Rockies, you'll always miss the Cascades, especially Mt. Rainier.
We have the best.
The trails don't all look like this.
9. Flannel shirts.
We never quite escaped that trend.
10. People asking you why you ever left.
The only proper response is "I don't know."
Washington definitely has its own unique culture. Here are some
surefire signs you were raised here.
