These 4 Small Towns In Washington Honor Christmas In The Most Magical Way
If this was an ordinary holiday season, you might be deciding which Christmas tree lighting to attend in the coming weeks or filling your calendar with festivals and parties. And while that simply isn’t in the cards this year, that doesn’t mean we won’t be enjoying ourselves here in Washington.
Some of our most beloved small towns are still planning on decking their halls and lining their streets with lights and decor for us to enjoy. In the end, it’s all about appreciating the beauty of winter and spending time with those we love…and these towns are still encouraging that (from a safe distance).
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

Washington's Little Norway always goes all out for the holidays, with dazzling lights and decorated storefronts. This year, their November 27th tree lighting will be a drive-by event. But you can still drive down Viking Avenue and see the beautiful lights. Bonus points if you do so with takeout from a local restaurant.

Stanwood is best known for their annual Lights of Christmas event at Warm Beach Camp & Conference Center. This year, the event will be a drive-through experience, meaning you can see all the dazzling lights from the comfort and coziness of your car. What a perfect way to spend a cold winter night.

From their annual tree lighting to the Wonderland Walk, Anacortes becomes quite the Christmas village every December. Unfortunately, they won't be hosting any group gatherings, but the Parks and Recreation staff is partnering with the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce to host a community-wide light show and competition. that kicks off on December 11th.

We can always count on our beautiful Bavarian village to help us get into the holiday spirit. The little city of Leavenworth won't be able to host its annual tree lighting ceremony this year, much to the dismay of the thousands of people who always look forward to it. However, their Christmas lights are up, and they're as dazzling as ever. Taking a stroll downtown is fun, free, and safe.
This might be a strange year, but it’s a perfect time to make some new creative holiday traditions. What will yours be?
