The holiday season may be over, but in Leavenworth, winter is just getting started. The annual snowfall arrived a bit late, but the area is now blanketed in soft white powder. That means the sleigh rides are ramping up at Red-Tail Canyon Farm, a year-round destination that happens to be especially stunning in the winter. Book a ride for your family and see for yourself.

Red-Tail Canyon Farm is located on Freund Canyon Road, just three miles from the bustling downtown Leavenworth.

The family-owned farm has been around for over 30 years and welcomes visitors in any season.
In the summer, this is a gathering place for weddings, private events, hayrides, and home-cooked meals...

... but when the farm turns into a winter wonderland, things get even better.

That's when sleigh ride season starts.
You won't have to feel any guilt when you visit Red-Tail Canyon. The horses here are treated like part of the family.

Horses are athletes, and here, they are treated as such. Sleigh ride season is their equivalent of game day, and the horses are given plenty of TLC in the "off season" to make sure they're ready.
Another unique feature of this experience is the sleigh itself.

All of the sleighs used for guest rides were fabricated by owner Ross Frank. He wanted guests to be able to enjoy their surroundings and interact with their driver with an intimate group size of no more than 14, so he designed the seats to face forward. Another fun fact: the undercarriage and runners are original casts used during the early 1920s in the Midwest
Reservations are required, and you'll have to decide on your choice of ride. You can book a private sleigh for up to six-person private sleigh for $150, or $25 per person if you have more than six.
