Washington’s Outdoor Cinema Will Make Your Summer Sensational
We have the privilege of enjoying all four seasons to the fullest here in Washington, but there’s truly something special about our summers. The days are long and warm, the Farmers Markets are full of fresh berries and vibrant flowers, and some of our cities and towns host outdoor movies in their parks. Now in its 25th year, the Seattle Outdoor Cinema takes that experience to a whole new level with a big screen, plenty of snacks, and an impressive night market.
Seattle Outdoor Cinema is located at the South Lake Union Discovery Center on Westlake Avenue.
Once known as the Fremont Outdoor Cinema, Seattle's original outdoor cinema is a time-honored tradition.
This experience is about far more than catching a good flick.
The moonlight movie series is held in conjunction with the Seattle Night Market, which has vendors, games, and activities.
You'll definitely want to bring your appetite to this party.
There will be food vendors and food trucks all around the venue. You're also welcome to bring your own picnic dinner, although alcohol is only permitted in the beer garden.
The Seattle Night Market is totally family-friendly, and people of all ages will find it fun.
However, you may want to make sure the movie being shown is appropriate for any little ones you bring.
This year's summer movie lineup includes The Matrix, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, and The Life Aquatic.
The movies officially begin at dusk, although you're welcome to get settled as early as 6 p.m.
Best of all, admission to this party is totally free.
That will free up some cash to spend on delicious Glow Tea, which you'll find at every night market.
Washington summers are fleeting, so take this opportunity to slow down, relax, and enjoy a great movie under the stars.
If you're planning a trip to Seattle this summer, work this experience into your itinerary.
Address: 101 Westlake Avenue North, Seattle, WA, 98109
