Seattle is about the farthest thing from Montana’s Big Sky Country, at least when it comes to population per capita and local culture. That being said, you can get a little taste of the Treasure State in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood at Montana Bar, a marvelous little dive bar with cocktails on tap.

It was co-conceived by Rachel Marshall, owner of Rachel's Ginger Beer, and Kate Opatz, a local restauranteur who was born and raised in Montana.
The space is described as charmingly awkward, full of stained wood, graffiti, and Montana highway signs.

Some of the highway signs even sport bullet holes (not from their time at the bar).
The graffiti carved into the tables and walls is welcome and encouraged, and plenty of patrons have obliged.

From Moscow Mules to creative gin concoctions, you never know what you'll find each time you stop in.
In recent years, they've added an outdoor space they call the parklet, where you can enjoy the daily happy hour all summer long.

While this outdoor space isn't exactly like the great outdoors of Montana, it is a nice peaceful oasis in the city.
While there is no consistent food menu, you'll often see specialty items and pop-ups here featuring some tasty local cuisine.
