The Washington Hiking Trail You’ve Never Heard Of But Must Experience
Since Washington is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise, it may seem as if all of our beautiful hiking trails are always packed with people. But that’s not always the case, especially if you’re willing to hike a trail that is a little more challenging than most.
The Margaret Lake Trail is a bit of a hidden gem, and the 5.5-mile journey will leave you breathless in more ways than one.

To reach it, take I-90 E (from Seattle) or W to Exit 54. Take a left off the interstate, a right on FSR 4832, and hang a left on on FSR 4934, which takes you to a parking area.

The lake is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a refreshing swim (weather permitting) or have a picnic lunch on the banks.

This is assuming, of course, that the "mountain is out" that day.
The Margaret Lake Trail is gorgeous, but it definitely isn’t easy. If you’re more of a novice hiker, try one of these beautiful trails under 3 miles.
