The Ski Park In Washington That Transforms Into An Ice Palace In The Winter
Living in Washington, you probably associate snowy winter carnivals with the holiday season. After all, the holidays bring an abundance of events celebrating winter in all its frosty glory. If you’re looking for a way to carry that festive sparkle into the new year, we have a magical winter carnival to check out! Every year in early March, the White Pass Ski area is home to the White Pass Winter Carnival and it is just as enchanting as you might imagine.
Located southeast of Mount Rainier, the White Pass Ski Area hosts this annual end-of-winter carnival full of fun, outdoor activities for all ages.
Though the castle is the biggest draw to the festival, you can still get your skiing and snowboarding fix. Come on Sunday for smaller crowds. Pack your own snacks or enjoy a meal and an espresso drink at the ski area cafe.
Have you ever seen the Incredible Hulk carved out of snow?
Magnificent snow sculptures can be found throughout the festival. Please be mindful of the time that went into these works of art and refrain from climbing on them.
If you thought the snow palace was beautiful during the day, just wait until you see it at night!
In the evening, the castle is lit up in a beautiful kaleidoscope of color to the sound of family-friendly party music. You just can't help but get up and dance!
Don't miss the fireworks show on Saturday evening.
Gather around the castle for a spectacular torchlight parade and fireworks display celebrating the end of winter and the upcoming arrival of spring.
If you’re looking for a magical getaway in the snow, bundle up and head to the White Pass Winter Carnival for a fun, family day in the mountains. Have you been to the festival? Did you take a photo of the giant palace? We’d love to hear about it in the comments.
