This Gondola Ride In Washington Will Take You To New Heights
You’ve seen Washington by car, on foot, and likely from the window of a plane… but what about by gondola? Going for a gorgeous gondola ride is a great way to spend an afternoon. And thanks to the Mt. Rainier Gondola at Crystal Mountain Resort, whether or not you’re a skier, you can.
The Mt. Rainier Gondola is open all year, but it’s especially magical in the winter.
You’ll enjoy a scenic ride and watch from above as skiers and snowboarders fly down the mountain below you.
You’ll travel almost 2,500 vertical feet to the summit where you’ll find breathtaking views of Mt. Rainier and the Cascade Range.
While you’re at the top of the Summit, have a meal at Washington’s highest elevation restaurant.
The Summit House offers an amazing dining experience. What other restaurant do you know of that’s accessible only by gondola?
Each gondola holds eight passengers, so you can ride with your family or friends.
During the summertime, you can even bring your well-behaved dog onboard for a ride.
Regular hours are 9 AM - 3:30 PM, but weather changes quickly in this area, so the gondola sometimes closes early or without notice.
Check the Mountain Report for the latest weather before heading up.
If you’ve got a (small) fear of heights, this is the best way to overcome it.
The top elevation is 6,856 feet.
