While chain restaurants are on just about every street corner, there’s simply nothing better than dining at a long-standing establishment, especially one that’s been owned by the same family for decades. One family-owned restaurant in Washington we think that everyone should try is Emmett Watson’s Oyster Bar. Established in 1978, it’s a nostalgic step back in time.
Emmett Watson's Oyster Bar has made its home in Seattle's Pike Place Market in the Soames Dunn building since 1978. It was originally opened by Emmett Watson and his friend Sam Bryant. Today, it is owned and operated by Sam Bryant's son, Thurman.
Stepping through the doors of this classic, long-running establishment is like taking a step back in time. It still has the old-school feel of when it first opened.
You probably can tell from the name that Emmett Watson's Oyster Bar is known for its oysters. But there are other items on the menu it's known for as well.
Fish and chips, fried shrimp (pictured here), grilled salmon, steamed mussels or clams, clam chowder, cioppino, oyster rolls, chicken and chips, and so much more are delectable options for diners.
