If you’ve lived in the Pacific Northwest for awhile, you’ve probably heard of the McMenamin family. For decades, the McMenamins have opened pubs, breweries, event venues, and hotels in Oregon and Washington, including this one in Bothell. Each property has their telltale whimsical decor and sells their local brew. Recently, they converted an old Elks Temple from 1916 into one of their multipurpose properties, and you’ll definitely want to explore it.

The building is a historic Beaux Arts Fraternal building that dates all the way back to 1916. It had been abandoned for years when McMenamins purchased it in 2007.

This will be a great gathering place for locals looking for a staycation as well as out-of-town guests.

This is The Vault, an intimate space that almost feels like a speakeasy.

The menu includes creative fare like Gaucho Steak Bites, The Tao of Tacos, and something called Wheel of Fortune Cookie, which we can only assume is amazing.

The majority of the art comes from local and regional artists. This is Elk’s Boat Ride to the Temple by Lyle Hehn.

The artwork also decorates the rooms, often including hints of local history.

Modeled after the Scalinata di Spagna in Rome, these steps were built in 1916 to connect a streetcar line on Broadway with City Hall.
