10 Christmas Light Displays In Washington That Are Pure Magic
It’s that time of year again, and Washington is ready to celebrate. The holiday season is a magical time in the Evergreen State, especially when the light displays come out in full force. If you’re ready to get into the holiday spirit, here are 10 events that will help.
1. The Lights of Christmas, Stanwood
The dates for this year's Lights of Christmas are December 1-4, 8-11, 15-18, 20-23, 26-28. With over one million lights and five entertainment stages, it's one of the best seasonal celebrations in the state.
2. WildLights, Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle
Starting on November 27, the Woodland Park Zoo becomes a winter wonderland you won't want to miss. The lights will be on display nightly from 5:30 - 8:30 until New Year's Day.
3. Zoo Lights, Point Defiance Zoo, Tacoma
From November 25 - January 1, the Point Defiance Zoo lights up for the holiday season. From 5-9 PM, you can walk through the zoo and see half a million lights in action.
4. Christmas Lighting Festival, Leavenworth
December really is the most wonderful time of the year in Leavenworth. From December 2-18, the downtown area becomes a beautiful Village of Lights. On Saturdays, stick around until dusk for the tree lighting ceremony.
5. Winter Glow Spectacular, Spokane
The Spokane County Fair & Expo Center becomes the North Pole on December 9, featuring dazzling light displays, crafts, and even fireworks on two nights. The dates for 2016 are December 9-11, 15-23, 26-30 from 4-10 PM.
6. Christmas Ship Festival, Argosy Cruises, Kirkland/Seattle
Since 1949, the Argosy Cruises Christmas Ship Festival has been a holiday tradition. The Argosy Christmas Ship sails to different communities each night, and on December 16, the Christmas Ship Parade of Boats Night will add a special twinkle to Lake Union as 65 decorated boats gather to celebrate.
7. Garden D’Lights, Bellevue
Garden d’Lights features over half a million lights that transform the Bellevue Botanical Garden into a twinkling winter wonderland every year. This year's dates are November 26-December 31 from 4:30 - 9:00 PM.
8. Christmas Lighted Boat Parade, Tri Cities
On December 2nd and 3rd, the annual Christmas Lighted Boat Parade will cruise along the Columbia River. The event begins at 6:00 under the Cable Bridge at Clover Island.
9. Fantasy Lights, Spanaway
Fantasy Lights at Spanaway Park is an annual celebration that runs from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day. Walking the two mile stretch filled with lights will help anyone get into the holiday spirit.
10. Ivar’s Clam Lights, Renton
Head to Renton's Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park from December 2 - January 1 for a beautiful light display sponsored by Ivars. This is also a great place to see the Argosy Christmas Ship.
