Backwoods Brewing Company In Washington Is Off The Beaten Path But So Worth The Journey
There are currently almost 400 breweries in the state of Washington, and that number seems to be increasing every year, much to our delight. Considering the Yakima Valley produces so many of the nation’s hops, it’s fitting that we should embrace our beer-loving nature. But even if you don’t do the brew, you’ll appreciate the delicious food and peaceful ambiance at Backwoods Brewing Company. While it’s quite a drive for most Washingtonians, it’s well worth it.
Backwoods Brewing Company is located in the charming little city of Carson, along the Columbia River Gorge.
They recently opened a second location in Portland, OR, but their Carson Pub is an iconic local spot.
The outdoor seating is phenomenal in the summertime, but in the winter, it's nice and cozy.
The addition of curtains, heat lamps, and lights turns the space into a winter wonderland.
This is, of course, a brewery -- so if you drink beer, we highly recommend you try what Backwoods has to offer.
The craft brews here are second to none, and they've always got something new and exciting on tap and in the can. From the Core Beers to the Limited Releases, you're sure to find something you'll enjoy.
But as beautiful as the scenery is, and as excellent as the beer is ... it's the pizza that keeps people coming back for more.
The dough is made fresh daily, and it's always hand-rolled and hand-tossed.
Choose from the Classics or the Experimental Pizza Menu, which includes delicacies such as the Whistle Punk (red sauce, bacon, smoked brisket, peppadew peppers, sweet onions, and mozzarella).
We recommend visiting multiple times and trying every pizza that looks even remotely appetizing, because it's all delicious.
While the pizza is the star of the show here, the menu also has other appetizing options.
There are appetizers, soups, and plenty of fresh green salads to choose from.
But whether you come for pizza, a salad, or a beer or two, you'll definitely want to save room for dessert.
It somehow tastes even better than it looks.
Backwoods Brewing Company is a destination all on its own.
The next time you find yourself exploring the Columbia River Gorge, check it out and see for yourself.
