Spice Up Your Life With Cajun Cuisine At Altha's In Washington
Washington is a long, long way from New Orleans. And while you can certainly find plenty of restaurants that serve authentic Cajun cuisine, it isn’t easy to find a place that sells those classic Southern spices. But at Altha’s Louisiana Cajun Seasoning & Spices shop, you’ll have a fantastic variety as well as some rather exotic options. Come see why this place sold out of nearly everything they had the first weekend they were open.

It's owned and operated by Reginald Robinson, who grew up in New Orleans before moving to Washington over 30 years ago.

Altha's originally opened in 2016 in a very small space. It was so crowded that the shop moved to a bigger building in Kent the following year.

Robinson gets two or three truckloads of Southern goodness delivered. The store sells around 1,000 pounds of catfish per week.

Many of the menu items are from recipes Robinson learned from his own mother.

Whether you're craving red beans and rice or chicken and waffles, you'll find it here.

They open at 8:30 a.m. most mornings for shoppers eager to get their provisions and serve Cajun cuisine until 8 p.m. (5 p.m. on Sundays).
Altha’s is a special place, and we highly recommend visiting. But if you’re not planning to pay Kent a visit anytime soon, you can order quite a bit from the website.
