You’ll be delighted to learn, then, that you can enjoy this activity right here in Virginia. The rare opportunity to spot these majestic creatures off the shore of the Virginia coast is one you won’t soon forget. These special tours are offered by the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center through the end of December.
Take a look at what’s in store:
If you've ever dreamed of spotting whales in their natural habitat, you'll want to sign up for a whale watching boat trip from the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center.
As you cruise on the iconic Atlantic Explorer, you'll enjoy learning from enthusiastic guides about these gorgeous creatures and their natural surroundings.
Over the course of the 2.5 hour tour, the guides will expertly search the waters for signs of humpback whales, minke whales, and fin whales, as well as porpoises and unique waterfowl. The boat even has a sea-level viewing deck to ensure you get the optimum perspective.
While spotting the whales isn't 100% guaranteed, you'll want to be sure to bring your camera for photograph-friendly moments such as the one depicted below!
If you happen to miss the whale watching season, fret not! There are other seasonal tours offered throughout the year where you can spot dolphins and other fascinating sea life.
The price for the 2.5-hour tour is $28 for adults, $24 for children ages 3-11, and free for children under 3 years old. Members of the Virginia Aquarium will receive $2 off the admission fee.
