This Scenic Drive Through Virginia Is Tailor-Made For A Fall Outing
There’s something about the fall season that just compels us to spend time outdoors. Maybe it’s the gorgeous changing leaves, the crisp air, or the gorgeous landscape of our beautiful Virginia, but there’s simply no denying the magic of autumn. Beautiful anytime of year, the iconic Skyline Drive is an absolute must-visit this season. Not only is the foliage breathtaking, but the overlooks and trails scattered along the drive make this area perfect for a fall excursion. See if the following photographs don’t convince you to plan your trip ASAP:
Skyline Drive is the iconic 105-mile drive that runs the entire length of Virginia's prized Shenandoah National Park.
Visitors from all over flock to this natural preserve to admire the landscape views, and during the fall season, these overlooks are all the more magnificent.
Unlike other highways, this scenic pass is meant to be enjoyed. Be sure to take advantage of the many pull-offs and overlooks that provide a glimpse of the surrounding landscape.
In the same area, you can observe the splendid hues of maples, chestnut, birch, poplar, oak trees, dogwoods, and even the vines of Virginia Creeper and poison ivy play their role in the transformation of colors.
Curious to see what the leaves look like right now? You can check out this Mountain View Webcam, courtesy of Shenandoah National Park, to see updates on the foliage!
