Skip The Hotel And Spend The Night In The Most Whimsical House In Virginia
With so many unique accommodations in Virginia, it may be hard to justify staying the night in a generic hotel. Next time you visit the lovely town of Charlottesville, for example, why not stay the night in this adorably whimsical house fashioned out of recycled goods? The aptly-named Recycled House is located just four blocks from the downtown walking mall and promises an unforgettable getaway no matter where you may be traveling from.
Nestled in a quiet Charlottesville neighborhood awaits a hidden gem that promises an out-of-the-ordinary Charlottesville experience. This lovely tree house-esque home has an eco-friendly twist: nearly all materials used to build the house are repurposed.
Step inside and you'll be welcomed into a cozy space complete with a soap stone fireplace, fully furnished kitchen, and plenty of room to relax and unwind. You'll have to look closely to admire all the different components of this delightfully unusual home.
The railing on the staircase, for example, used to be the framework for a futon. And if you look even closer, you'll notice the croquet balls supporting the rail!
Continue upstairs and you can admire the beautiful flooring, which is old hickory wood. Plus, the bricks on the fireplace are over 100 years old!
And while so many of the components of this home have been up-cycled, you'll find that the home has a brand new feel to it (plus the added benefit of plenty of character).
The owner of the house spent over five years collecting the materials that could be given a second life in this unique home.
Even the plaque outside was created by a local tombstone company from recycled granite material. So if you're looking for a unique place to stay the next time you visit Charlottesville, you might consider spending the night in this wonderfully whimsical home.
