The rural byway known as Snickersville Turnpike (State Route 734) stretches between the northern Virginia areas of Aldie and Bluemont.

The drive, while only 15 miles in length in length, offers an unforgettable stretch of pristine rural beauty.
This breathtaking drive is equally historic, as it partially replaced the first toll road in the country in the early 1800s.

The road is named for Edward Snickers, an innkeeper whose guests included George Washington. When Washington was surveying the land for Lord Fairfax, he would often spend the night at this inn near the Shenandoah River. In 1810, the Commonwealth of Virginia put in place a system of privately owned turnpikes with a toll booth at Snicker’s Gap. This toll was kept in place until 1915.
Meandering down this well-maintained route, drivers will enjoy pristine views of Loudoun Valley.
