The Breathtaking Virginia Hike That Glows Gold Once A Year
Fall in Virginia may be an ephemeral season, but fortunately there are countless ways to embrace it. Hikes that typically go unnoticed become transformed by the changing leaves and make their way to the very top of our adventure bucket lists. One such trail, tucked away in Mason Neck State Park, transforms to gorgeous shades of gold this time of year. So pack a jacket, plenty of water, and don’t forget your camera!
Note: You’ll want to bring some cash as there is a minimal entry fee upon entering the park.
Mason Neck Park is located at 7301 High Point Road, Lorton VA 22079, just a stone’s throw away from Washington D.C.
The 1,856-acre park is filled with three miles of paved multi-use trails, gorgeous hiking trails, a playground, generous picnic area, and plenty of options for water activities and wildlife observation.
If you have time for just one hike, you’ll want to make your way towards the Bay View Trail.
The Bay View Trail is just one mile in length, beginning near the State Park Visitor’s Center and gently winds through the woods and towards the shoreline.
During the fall, this beloved boardwalk transforms into a glowing trail surrounded by all sorts of warm hues.
