Awake To 360-Degree Scenic Views At This Unique Lighthouse Replica In Virginia
Lighthouses have always been a point of interest in Virginia. Our state boasts many of these historic structures, most of which you can tour via our lighthouse road trip. However, few people realize there’s a lovely lighthouse replica that serves as an overnight accommodation for visitors to Smithfield Station. In fact, it’s the only authentic lighthouse accommodation on the East Coast. How incredible is that? In addition to beautiful decor, the Lighthouse boasts 360-degree views of the lovely coastal landscape.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate
Welcome to the Light at Smithfield, an exact replica of a Chesapeake Bay-style lighthouse common to the area. This beautiful structure is the crown jewel of the unique accommodations you'll find at Smithfield Station.
There are actually two separate spaces for rent inside the lighthouse: the Captain Todd Suite on the main floor and the Captain Sinclair Suite on the top level, shown in the photograph below.
What makes the upper level so remarkable is the winding staircase that leads to the top of the lighthouse. From here, guests can enjoy a 360-degree view of the enchanting harbor.
Other luxurious amenities include a jacuzzi, king bed, and fireplace. Guests should note that children are not allowed for overnight accommodations in this suite.
During the day, you'll find plenty to do in Smithfield. Whether you enjoy historic tours, scenic boardwalk strolls, or simply walking along the charming downtown streets, you'll quickly fall in love with this coastal town.
So if your dream accommodation is surrounded by water, offers incredible views, and is the only one of its kind on the East Coast, you won't be disappointed by the Light at Smithfield.
Have you visited Smithfield Station recently? We’d love to hear all about your experience there! For more information on rates and availability, you can check out the official website.
