History and lodging go hand in hand in Virginia. Nearly all of Virginia’s historic inns and accommodations are riddled with a past both haunting and fascinating. And it seems that some buildings haven’t completely moved on. One prime example is the Black Horse Inn, a breathtaking accommodation in Warrenton, Virginia. The inn’s former identity as a Civil War Hospital lends a haunted yet completely intriguing element to your stay. It’s no surprise that this building is allegedly haunted with not one, but four ghosts! Here’s more on the Black Horse Inn, a remarkable place to stay in Virginia’s hunt country.
The Black Horse Inn is a stately bed & breakfast located in northern Virginia that offers guests an experience of the past. The original part of the building was constructed in the 1850s, meaning that the property has existed for nearly 170 years.
The Inn was named for the Black Horse Cavalry which fought against Union forces at the First Battle of Manassas. The building would go on to serve as a hospital during the years of the war.
Upon entering this historic bed and breakfast, you won't help but feel tied to the history of the building and the area. And if you're really observant, you might just pick up on something else altogether.
The Black Horse Inn is believed to be haunted by at least four different ghosts. Accounts from guests report a variety of suspicious activity, such as things falling over on their own and even the sounds of laughter where there are no people present.
Another peculiar ghost is said to leave an impression on the bed of the Burgundy Room. Was this perhaps the last place this ghosty being slept while he was alive?
Despite its haunted history -- or perhaps because of it -- guests love the opportunity to visit this beautiful property, with its 10 unique rooms and space for a family retreat or wedding.
