Mark your calendars for July 2 and 3, when colorful hot air balloons will rise above Rockbridge County, Virginia. The spectacle of such graceful and massive floats is a bucket-list experience no matter your age. The annual Balloons Over Rockbridge is a not-to-be-missed event that will take place at the Oak Hill Cross Country Course of the Lexington Horse Center.
Whether you're interested in catching a ride on a colorful hot air balloon or simply watching them from the safety of the ground, you'll be enchanted by the show.
So what can you expect from the event? In addition to all kinds of hot air balloon festivities, there will also be live music and entertainment for the kiddos.
There will also be lots of local vendors supplying all kinds of goodies, from local pizzerias, beer and wine, BBQ, donuts, and much more. So don't forget to bring your appetite!
The balloon launches take place at 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to ensure the best conditions for a smooth ride. Flights can last between 20 minutes and one hour, depending on conditions.
