This White Water Adventure In Vermont Is An Outdoor Lover’s Dream
You don’t have to travel all the way out west to take a white water rafting trip. In Vermont, you can take this active adventure on the rapids of the West River. This isn’t an everyday attraction, the limited rafting trip only takes place two times each year during the dam release in May and September. The river takes your near Stratton Mountain where the fall foliage will be displaying the glory of all its colors.
The trip is operated out of the Main Base Lodge at Stratton Mountain, a resort in southern Vermont. If you are traveling quite a distance to take this full-day adventure, you can book a stay at the resort with its full amenities and accommodations.
Begin your white water adventure at Ball Mountain Dam where water is released for the trip.
Full Day excursions cost $99 per adult and $74 per youth. Plan to book your trip in advance because of the limited dates, these adventures sell out quickly.
Prepare for a pretty steep downhill descent on a rocky trail to access the starting point. Don't worry, you only have to go down, the trip ends miles down the river so you never have to climb back up this hill.
Experience several miles of continuous rapids before reaching the greatest challenge. The Dumplings is an S curve of the river where you'll really pick up some speed.
