You’d think that since Vermont is such a small state, we’d all be familiar with the restaurants throughout the 802. Au contraire mon frere! You may know and love your favorite local eateries, but we thought we’d spread the love and let you in on a few other VT restaurants you never knew existed. Try them all – they’re totally worth the trip. Bon appetite!
1. Auntie Dee Dees Homemade Vermont Baked Goods - 185 Mountain Road, East Burke
From the sweet to the savory, Aunt Dee Dee's will serve up something special that will make your taste buds jump off you tongue. Get ready for some of the tastiest culinary creations at this little place in the NEK.
2. America's Taco Shop - 5043 US Rt 5, Derby Center
Don't miss this stop on the Canadian border! Be sure to try their hand made chips, and if you can't decide what you'd like, they'll give you samples!
3. The Backroom - 3963 Route 100, Pittsfield
In the back of a general store in the small town of Pittsfield, you'll find one of the best restaurants in all of Vermont. Find out why the New York Times calls The Backroom "New England’s Coolest Dinner Party."
4. Chef Brads "Crazy Side" - 6 Damon Road, Hartland
This food truck serves everything from burgers, fish & chips, Shrimp Tacos, to salmon, soups and salads. Eat outside or in a warm school bus complete with tables. Fun!
5. Aztlan Foods - 40 Foundry Street, Waterbury
What a find! And 'find' is exactly right... This place is a little hard to locate, but it's definitely worth the hunt. Trust us, it's worth it. Made to order burritos and bowls and serious spice for anyone who wants to bring it on. They have frozen burritos to go, too. Call ahead, they have limited hours, often closing at 3pm.
6. Green Goddess Cafe - 618 S Main Street, Stowe
This delightful joint may technically be on Main Street, but it could be overlooked because it's not located in the village. Next to a furniture store, insurance company and preschool, you'll find the Green Goddess. Known for their excellent breakfast sandwiches and design-your-own salads, Green Goddess also snagged the Seven Daysies award for Best Vegetarian.
7. Big Fatty’s BBQ - 186 S Main Street, White River Junction
Big portions and reasonable prices are the name of the game at this treasured BBQ joint. This place may be popular with the locals, but if you're not familiar with Big Fatty's, you need to put it on your bucket list immediately.
8. 158 Main Restaurant & Bakery - 158 Main Street, Jeffersonville
Only the freshest and tastiest ingredients will be found here and the results are simply amazing. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner - try them all!
9. Rainbow Sweets Bakery - 1689 US Rt 2, Marshfield
Don't be fooled into thinking that you'll only find delicious treats at Rainbow Sweets. The Spanikopita is out of this world!
10. Jericho Cafe & Tavern - 30 Vermont Rte 15, Jericho
From the moment you walk in the door, you'll certainly feel at the Jericho Cafe and Tavern. Try to catch a meal when there is live music on the weekend, too.
