Charlotte Is A Charming Little Farm Town In Vermont That’s Perfect For Getting Away From It All
While Vermont may not have the flat pastures of the Midwest, you’ll still find thousands and thousands of enchanting working farms throughout the state. This small town in northwest Vermont is known for having amazing farmland, but also for a few other of its in-town perks.
The town of Charlotte, Vermont was first chartered in 1762 and sits in the fertile Champlain Valley amongst hills and ridges that overlook Lake Champlain.
Approximately 3,500 residents live in the town that's home to a large network of working farms and forests. Throughout the town, you'll find sugarbushes, orchards, dairies, berry farms, a winery, market gardens, livestock operations, honey houses, and so much more.
One of the beautiful working farms in town is Philo Ridge Farm & Market.
Their livestock and land management team specializes in producing grass-fed and pasture-raised livestock, such as Belted Galloway beef, heritage Tamworth pork, Kosher King broiler chicken, Romney/Border Leister cross lamb.
The farm has its own onsite market where you can purchase fresh produce and other delicious local goods.
Also in town, is the Charlotte Village Winery which produces and serves a variety of delicious wines.
Have a glass of wine out on the deck as you look out to spectacular views of the Adirondacks, as well as our blueberry bushes and vineyards.
The Charlotte Berry Farm is a family-friendly pick-your-own berry farm where visitors can choose from raspberries, black raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and pumpkins.
For breathtaking views, check out the 237-acre park in town, Mt. Philo State Park.
Mount Philo State Park is a state park located in Charlotte, Vermont. The large park protects the area around Mount Philo and provides views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains to the west. The Green Mountains can be seen to the east and south.
During the winter, the community comes together to create a public ice rink that's perfect for ice skating and playing hockey.
When it comes to charming farm towns that are just so quintessentially Vermont, Charlotte checks all the boxes.
