The Old Round Church was constructed between 1812 and 1814 and was built to serve five congregations in the area, as well as a meeting location for the town of Richmond.
Because of the unusual shape of the church, a few legends have persisted through the years as to why the church was constructed in such a manner. One such tale explains that the sixteen-sided structure was a way to make it impossible for the devil to be hiding in a corner. Well, that's one way to solve the problem.
The Round Church is considered to be one of the first congregational churches in the community of Richmond, and it has done a splendid job resisting time’s persistent march towards decay.
