What are the best waterfall hikes in Vermont?

Some of the best waterfall hikes in Vermont include:

  • Hamilton Falls
  • Buttermilk Falls
  • Texas Falls
  • Moss Glen Falls
  • Warren Falls
  • Bristol Falls
  • Bingham Falls

Fun fact: there are more than 30 hiking trails with waterfalls in Vermont. Joy! This means you could explore one per weekend and it would take almost a year to get to them all. Some of the most popular waterfall hikes in Vermont include challenging hikes like the Camel’s Hump Trail, which is six miles long, found at Camel’s Hump State Park, and features some truly splendid views. The Lye Brook Falls Trail in the Green Mountain National Forest is easier, rated as “moderate” instead of “hard”, and at just under four and a half miles long, it’s the perfect afternoon hike. The waterfall is amazing, too! You can’t forget to do the Moss Glen Falls Trail/VAST 100 Trail, either; it’s 5.2 easy miles of stunning Vermont wilderness (and the waterfall is pretty much right at the beginning, so you don’t have to go on forever if you don’t feel like it).

What are some of the best easy-access waterfalls in Vermont?

Most Glen Falls is one of the best easy-access waterfalls in Vermont.

For every waterfall that requires a dramatic hike to get to is another that’s ultra-easy to access. Vermont has tons of amazing waterfalls, and many of them are super easy to get to, like Moss Glen Falls, in Granville. It’s often referred to as one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Vermont, and at 25 feet tall, it’s quite spectacular – best of all, it’s just off Route 100, no hiking necessary. Another impressive easy-access waterfall in Vermont is Bingham Falls within the Mount Mansfield State Forest. Bingham Falls is 40 feet tall, dropping into a stunning gorge filled with clear, cool water. It can be found just off the road along Route 108 in Stowe. Buttermilk Falls in Ludlow is one of Vermont’s most popular waterfalls, with plenty of room for swimming, diving, and other water-based activities – all with an incredible waterfall as a backdrop. You’ll find that one just off Route 103 on Buttermilk Falls Road.
