Whether you travel along curvy backroads in the middle of nowhere Vermont, or ride along Route 7 or 100, Vermont has a plethora of fabulous roads and landscapes to explore in your car. If you are looking for a mini road trip in Vermont to take soon, we highly recommend Route 22A in Addison County. Take it slow and enjoy the surrounding rural landscape, distant Adirondack Mountain range, and the sprawling farm fields of this gorgeous region of Vermont. Begin your journey in Shelburne and head south on Vermont Route 7. Before reaching the city of Vergennes, take a righthand turn onto Route 22A.
This mini road trip through Addison County is around an hour in duration, but there are plenty of opportunities to extend the drive for those inclined.
Drive through sprawling farm fields and quiet and peaceful rural localities while taking in the cool summer or fall weather. If you are fortunate enough to make this drive in early October, you'll be blown away by the beauty of Vermont's famous fall foliage.
Keep cruising along Vermont Route 22A past Shoreham and Orwell, two delightful and quaint Vermont towns, to Fair Haven. From there, Route 22A straddles the Vermont-New York line. The road trip ends where you decide. You can easily traverse over to Rutland and then take Route 7 further south, or you can stay on Route 22A.
