When the weather’s sunny, it’s time to get the kids outside in the fresh air. If you’re bored with the same old neighborhood playgrounds, you might want to explore a little farther afield. Head to Draper to play at this charming farm-themed playground.
Wheadon Farm Park was built on land that was once farmed by the Wheadon family. The family generously donated the land back in 1997, and it was finally made into a park a few years ago.
You'll find Wheadon Farm Park at 13965 S. Bangerter Pkwy ., Draper, 84020.
With the Wheadon family in mind, the park was designed and built with a farm theme. There's a two-story barn, tractor, hay derrick tire swing, and more.
The tire swing is set up on a structure that's meant to look like a hay derrick - a farm implement that was once used to lift hay bales out of a wagon and onto a haystack.
They'll find lots of climbing holds both on the outside and inside of the barn, as well as plenty of things to climb up on and jump off of. There's a large slide for kids to slide down, too.
You'll find a couple of informative panels that tell you about the history of this land, as well as ways in which farming practices were different decades ago. The view of the mountains is also stunning.
