Everyone in Utah Must Visit This Epic Waterfall As Soon As Possible
Lower Calf Creek Falls is one of Utah’s most beautiful and enjoyable waterfalls. Spring is a great time to visit – before the summer tourist crowd descends upon the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument Area.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. The trailhead to the waterfall is located off Highway 12 at the Calf Creek Recreation Area. You’ll park at the day use lot, or stay overnight at the campground.

The hike is relatively flat, along a marked trail, but it’s sandy so the walk is somewhat strenuous.

It’s almost 3 miles one-way, so allow up to 1 ½ hours to make the trip. In some spots, you can cool off in the river.

Along the way, you’ll see some Fremont-style pictographs.

Look up at the cliffs to see some dwellings and granaries.

Even in this desert environment, you'll still see some colorful flowers.

You might even see some wildlife.

The falls plummet 126 feet into the pool below. Depending on the time of year, the pool is often large enough for you to splash around.

If you're lucky enough to be the only ones there, the spot is a great place for a quiet rest.

The amount of water varies from year-to-year, and depends on the season, but Lower
Calf Creek Falls are always beautiful.
You can see the whole hike (and the falls) during this YouTube video posted by Hiker’s Eye.
