Where can I find the best Christmas lights in Utah?

Each and every year, certain towns in Utah enjoy going all-in and decking the halls – and every square inch of the town – with holiday delights. Some of the best Christmas lights in Utah can be found in places like Temple Square in Salt Lake City. There, you’ll find tens of thousands of lights and plenty of holiday cheer to go around. While in Salt Lake, be sure to also check out the lights at Hogle Zoo, which features more than 200 amazing displays. In Midway, you’ll find the Ice Castles of Midway lit up in some of the most beautiful lights you’ll ever see, and we also love visiting Willard Bay State Park for the incredible Christmas lights displays you’ll find there. When it comes to Christmas lights in Utah, there are plenty of options!

What is Christmas in Utah like?

Christmas in Utah is a special time of year with plenty of things to do, see, and experience that are sure to make your holiday season merry and bright. Everywhere you go, you’ll find kind faces, warm smiles, and all the Christmas lights you could ever hope for. You’ll find many a Christmas village in Utah, like the one in Ogden City and the one in Spanish Fork. There’s a certain delight in the air everywhere you go and there are plenty of small towns in Utah that love transforming themselves into winter wonderlands every single season.

What is winter in Utah like?

Winter in Utah can be cold and snowy, with short days and long nights (all the better for viewing Christmas lights). The coldest months of the year are December and January, when highs can sometimes not even reach above freezing. Most of the state experiences snow, and this makes for some truly delightful Christmas shenanigans when the time is right. Of course, there have been some record-setting winter storms in Utah that went down in the books, but these events are fairly uncommon and only occur every so often. Interestingly, Utah gets about as much snow as Colorado does every year, which makes sense, considering the two states are neighbors.
