You Can Go Scuba Diving Year Round At This Utah Lake In The Middle of Nowhere
There are some pretty remarkable natural wonders in Utah. From natural arches to hoodoos to waterfalls, there are features in the state that are going to leave you impressed. But, Blue Lake is one of the most unique natural features in Utah. It is found near the Utah and Nevada state line and it’s actually known for scuba diving, a unique activity here in the Beehive State. It’s one hidden gem that’s certainly worth discovering.
You’ll find Blue Lake Wildlife Management Area approximately 15 miles south of Wendover. This is a 215-acre WMA that features multiple spring-fed lakes and ponds with Blue Lake being the largest.
Blue Lake has many features that make it quite unique. For one, it is approximately 58 feet deep. To put that into perspective, a five-story building is approximately 55 feet tall.
This lake is fed by a geothermal spring, helping it maintain a temperature of 76 degrees Fahrenheit, even in the winter. Between the warm temperatures and the depth of the lake, it is a popular destination for scuba divers all year long.
And once you reach the lake, you’ll find a dock where you can easily hop in and enjoy the warm water.
While Blue Lake is known for its scuba diving, there are many other activities that may draw you to the area. This is a popular destination for fishing as you can catch a variety of fish including Largemouth Bass and Blue Gill.
Waterfowl hunting is also allowed in the area as it is a WMA. However, because this is a place often frequented by fishermen and scuba divers year-round, wildlife often doesn’t stay for long.
But, if you simply want to head outside and discover someplace new, Blue Lake is the place to go.
