This Utah City Is One Of The Best In The Country For Jobs
Everyone from students graduating this May to people unhappy in their current jobs knows that one of the most important factors of finding work is looking in the right place. Some cities just offer more opportunities than others. A recent study compiled by WalletHub recently identified the best cities for work in 2017, and you’ll be happy to see that one Utah city made the top 10.
The study included the 150 most populated American cities; Salt Lake City is the only Utah city large enough to make that list.
WalletHub ranked each city on 23 criteria. The study included factors such as “most job opportunities,” median annual income,” and “unemployment rate.” Each city was given two composite scores: one for “Job Market,” and the other for “Socioeconomic Environment.”
Salt Lake City was named the 8th Best City for Jobs in 17th!
Both Salt Lake City and Boston have unemployment rates of just 2.4 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The average rate for the country is 4.6 percent.
The capital of the Beehive State is also one of the fastest growing cities in the country.
When new companies come into Salt Lake City, or existing companies expand, the growth impacts everyone. Fast growth = more jobs.
In addition to Salt Lake’s great economic statistics, we think it’s a pretty great place to live for many other reasons.
You can’t beat the accessibility to some of Utah’s most beautiful hiking trails.
Some residents are lucky enough to live literally steps away from hiking paths that offer views of the whole city. The Bonneville Shoreline trail, for instance, makes its way all along the east side and provides stunning views of the entire valley.
You’ll find plenty of locally-owned restaurants, cafes and coffee shops.
Salt Lake City has a diverse range of offerings when you’re ready for a tasty meal. From killer Mexican cuisine to fancy restaurants with stunning views, you’ll find plenty to choose from.
Several world-class ski resorts are just a few minutes’ drive up the canyons.
You’ll find the Utah Symphony, Utah Opera, Ballet West and a host of local theater such as Pioneer Theater Company. The new Eccles Theater brings in Broadway productions and concerts, too.
From our low crime rate to our clean, safe parks, Salt Lake City is a great place to raise kids. You’ll find plenty to keep them busy here, too. Hogle Zoo, the Children’s museum, Clark Planetarium and the SLC library system are just a few examples of wonderful places to take your family.
