Play Like An Olympian All Summer Long At This Utah Park
You might think of winter sports when you think of the Utah Olympic Park in Park City. Snow-covered ski runs and national ski and snowboard events are the business at hand when it’s cold and snowy, but during the summer, this place is a playground for summertime adventures. Hope in your car and head up the canyon, because there are tons of summer activities here!
When the weather warms up and all the snow melts away, Park City becomes a destination for summer recreation. The Utah Olympic Park isn't just for Olympic hopefuls - there's plenty here for everyone.
Most people never have the chance to hurtle down a bobsled track. The track at Utah Olympic Park is one of just a couple in the country where the public can take a ride, and oh, what a ride it is!
During summer months, the sleds are modified so they can roll down the concrete track without any ice. You'll reach speed of up to 60 mph on this ride, and anyone who is at least 13 years old and 100 pounds (and doesn't have medical conditions that put them at risk) is welcome to ride!
You don't need snow to go tubing, and you don't need to be an Olympian to hit the Nordic ski jump at Utah Olympic Park.
Buckle up your helmet and hop on the the K64 and K90 landing hills for an extreme tubing adventure that will get you going up to 50 miles per hour. The hills are covered with a special plastic material that gets super slick when it's wet, so you'll fly down the hill.
Soar like an eagle and check out the scenic vista far below you when you take the zip line tour.
Take a chairlift up to Peak Plaza, where you'll gear up and get ready for your eight-tower zip line tour. During your rides, you'll be suspended up to 160 feet above the mountain terrain, and you'll reach speeds of up to 40 miles per hour.
Riders ages three and older will love the Alpine Slide, and it's fun for the whole family.
Kids under 48 inches tall will ride with an adult; bigger kids can drive their own sled. The hand brake lets you control your speed as you cruise through curves, down hills, and through straightaways.
Have you ever wondered what it's like to jump onto one of those huge airbags that Hollywood stunt people use? You can find out on the Utah Olympic Park's Airbag Jumps.
Leap into the void from one of three towers that let you jump 5 feet, 10 feet, or 15 feet. Kids as young as five years old can take the leap.
Challenge yourself with a ropes course. You can choose from the Summer Discovery Course, Summer Canyon Course, or Summer Summit Course.
Each of the three courses is designed to challenge participants at different skill levels. The Discovery Course is perfect for youngsters; the Canyon Course takes you 25 feet into the air for more challenging obstacles, and the Summit Course is the most advanced, with heights up to 55 feet.
While you’re at the park, you’ll definitely want to check out the
Flying Ace All-Stars Freestyle Shows.
