BYU Museum of Paleontology: Visit This Dinosaur Museum In Utah

Calling all dinosaur lovers! If you are a dinosaur enthusiast or you know someone who is, our adventure today is for you! Located on Brigham Young University’s campus is a hidden gem that’s perfect for dino lovers of all ages — the BYU Museum of Paleontology. This isn’t a large dinosaur museum in Utah, especially when compared to others across the state, but it is one attraction that is going to leave you amazed.

The BYU Museum of Paleontology was originally built in 1976 to prepare, display, and store all types of rocks and dinosaur fossils collected by Dr. James A. Jensen and his crews.

For years, much of the collection was stored under the BYU football stadium but since a 5,000-square-foot expansion of the museum, all of the collection is now stored in the museum and ready to be explored.

This dinosaur museum in Utah is designed to provide a hands-on experience to BYU students; however, the museum is also open to the public. As you walk around, you'll see all types of incredible dinosaur fossils including full Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus Rex heads.

There is also a large viewing window where you may just be lucky enough to see some paleontologists or students working on various fossils.

While this museum doesn’t take too long to walk through and explore, you’ll still want to give yourself plenty of time. There are incredible things to see that will take you back in time and are sure to leave you impressed.

The BYU Museum of Paleontology is open Monday through Friday. It is closed on the weekend and on University holidays. Admission to the museum is free, though donations are accepted.
