Some bodies of water are perfect for waterskiing and boating; others are best for kayaking and fishing. In the High Uintas, alpine lakes are like little jewels just waiting to be fished and explored. There’s one popular lake that’s particularly beautiful, and you should put it on your bucket list this summer. Check out Mirror Lake:
For some of the most stunning scenery in the Beehive State, take the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway. The byway starts in Kamas and climbs for 42 miles up to Bald Mountain Pass, which sits at 10,687 feet.
Take the loop trail around the lake to see it from all angles. The trail is 2.8 miles long, and is almost perfectly flat, so it's great for most hikers. Keep an eye out for moose - they're plentiful here.
The lake is not open to motorized boats, which makes this a quiet, peaceful experience. Bring your canoe or kayak to paddle and explore, and drop a line in to see if you can catch a rainbow trout.
