The One-Of-A-Kind Utah Festival You’ll Never Forget
When you think of the word “festival,” do you think of elk? Probably not, but we’re about to change that. Hardware Ranch’s Elk Festival is right around the corner, and you’re going to want to attend.
Every year in November, the elk migrate down from the mountains to Hardware Ranch, where they'll spend several months hanging out and enjoying some free meals.
When the elk first arrive, a small number of them are penned so that they can be tested for diseases like tuberculosis and brucellosis. They're also tagged so that researchers can keep track of them over the years.
The ranch protects these magnificent creatures, and provides them with hay that's grown right on the ranch during the summer.
Some of these elk have been returning for years. This is "George" who clearly has a goofy personality.
The Elk Festival takes place Saturday, December 9th from 10 AM to 2 PM. Enjoy family-appropriate activities in the Visitor Center. You can make fish prints or handcraft your own Christmas elk ornament.
Bundle up and climb aboard the sleigh for a ride around the ranch.
You'll get right in the middle of the herd so you can observe these magnificent animals up close.
Sleigh Rides are offered from 10 AM to 4:30 PM. The cost is just $5 for ages nine and older, $3 for kids ages four to eight; younger kids ride free.
Hardware Ranch is located in Blacksmith Fork Canyon, about 15 miles east of Hyrum. For directions or to learn more about Hardware Ranch,
