There’s nothing quite like a friendly hole-in-the-wall place that serves up tasty bar food and beer. This cozy spot is located in the most unexpected location…right next to the oil refinery.
When we say that it's right next door to the oil refinery, we're not kidding. Garage on Beck literally sits right in front of the Tesoro Refinery on I-89, north of Capitol Hill.
The address is 1199 Beck Street, Salt Lake City. It's a bar, so you must be 21 years old to visit.
The first time owner Bob McCarthy saw the building that would become Garage on Beck, it was a sad, dark little bar. But it had a friendly group of regulars, and Bob thought there might be something there to preserve.
Looking around at the junkyard and oil refinery, he had a vision of a juke-joint, roadhouse kind of place, where everyone feels welcome. With his experience (he's also the owner of Stoneground), and his team of restaurant pros, he took on the project.
