Now that the holidays are long over, are you feeling listless and bored? Bundle up and head to the Gallivan Center in downtown Salt Lake City, where you can spend the afternoon or evening gliding on the outdoor ice rink.

Ice skating at the Gallivan Center is a popular Christmastime activity, but the rink is actually open all the way through February.

Now that the holiday crowds are gone, you can enjoy an enchanting evening or afternoon on this rink, surrounded by the buildings of downtown Salt Lake City.
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, you can skate starting at noon.

If the weather is particularly cold out, you can enjoy the warmest hours of the day on the ice.

Even though Christmas is over, the Gallivan Center keeps its lights up for some enchanting, magical ice time.

Fun fact: The Zamboni machine was invented by a Utahn! Frank Zamboni was born in Eureka, Utah, and his invention revolutionized the way skating rinks are maintained.

Skating costs $9 for adults; $8 for kids ages 4-12; kids 3 and younger skate free. The price includes skate rentals.

You can also grab a snack while you're here. Get a hot dog, pretzel, churro, cookie or chips, and warm up with a cup of hot chocolate. Snack price ranges from $1 to $3.

The Gallivan Center ice rink is open Monday through Thursday from 4 PM to 9 PM; Friday and Saturday Noon to Midnight; Sunday Noon to 7 PM. It's located at 50 E. 200 S., Salt Lake City.
