You’ve probably heard the saying, “Nothing in life is free.” Well, that’s simply not true! Hop in the car and head to Hill Aerospace Museum. Admission is free, and everyone in the family from toddlers to grandparents will love this place.
The Hill Aerospace Museum is located on Hill Air Force Base near Layton. If you're interested in airplanes and the history of flight, this museum is a definite must-visit.
The museum opened its doors in 1986, and over the years has welcomed more than five million visitors. It's open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and admission is free.
...to this Curtiss P-40N-5-CU "Warhawk," the planes all have unique stories. This Warhawk is a particular favorite, with its gnarly shark design. The museum is home to more than 90 planes, military vehicles, and missiles, so make sure to leave yourself plenty of time to peruse them all.
All of the planes are organized into five time periods: The Beginnings, World War II, The Dawn of the Jet Age, The Cold War, and Keeping the Peace. Walk through and see how military aircraft developed and evolved through the ages.
You'll find planes and displays inside the huge hangar, and also many outside on the 30 acre-grounds. In addition to the large equipment, the museum also has more than 4,000 objects including military uniforms, photographs, and other memorabilia.
Though the museum is accessible to all visitors free of charge, donations are always welcome. The Hill Aerospace Museum is funded by the Aerospace Heritage Foundation of Utah, a (501)(c)(3) non-profit organization.
