Farmington Creek Trail In Utah Is Fun For The Whole Family
The Farmington Creek Trail can be a bit challenging, but it has a lot to offer. This shady trail offers several creek crossings, some interesting landmarks, and a 40-foot waterfall.
During these uncertain times, please keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket list to visit at a later date.
The Farmington Creek Trail is just under three miles, and it's rated as moderate with a few steep portions and an 839-elevation change.
To find the trailhead, take Farmington Canyon Road to the small parking lot. During winter months, the road is closed, but you can still hike the trail! Just add on an extra mile from the gate.
There's something for everyone on this pretty trail. It follows Farmington Creek, which provides a gurgling soundtrack for your trek, as well as water for cooling off on a hot day.
Keep an eye out for three old cars along this trail! They've been here for decades...
...and have been used for target practice at some point over the years.
Much of the trail is shady, but some parts are sun-exposed, so bring along a hat and some sunscreen.
You'll want to take your time meandering on this trail - the views of the canyon are gorgeous!
To get down to the waterfall, you'll have to traverse a pretty steep section. There's a rope alongside the trail to help you navigate safely.
At the bottom, you're rewarded for your efforts with a 40-foot waterfall! If you're hiking in the spring or early summer, the flow is pretty good.
Spend some time splashing and relaxing at the base of the waterfall before climbing back up and heading back the way you came.
Bring some water and snacks with you, but make sure to pack out everything you pack in. Do your part to keep this trail and its waterfall nice and clean for future hikers to enjoy!
