While many Utah adventures can be done in other states, there are a few things that Utahns enjoy that people in other places will never be able to try (unless, they visit the Beehive State, of course). Here’s an adventure that’s so unique that it’s only available to the public in Utah and one other state.
Utah Olympic Park was built for the 2002 Winter Olympics, and now it serves as both a training facility for future Olympians and an adventure destination for both Utahns and visitors to the Beehive State.
One of the most unique things to do here is the Comet Bobsled, where you'll ride aboard the same kind of bobsled that Olympians use in the bobsled event. The Comet Bobsled is available in both winter and summer months. During the summer, the sleds are modified so that they can traverse the cement tracks.
The track is 4,396 feet long and you'll experience many twists and turns along the way. The cost for your ride is $75/person. Summer rides are first-come-first-served, Monday through Friday 1 PM to 5 PM; Saturday and Sunday 1 PM to 6 PM.
There are only two bobsled tracks in the entire United States; one in Lake Placid, New York, and the other right here in the Beehive State! This is truly a unique experience that everyone should have at least once in a lifetime.
You must be at least 13 years old and weight at least 100 pounds to ride the Comet Bobsled. Pregnant woman are not allowed, and those with heart problems, chronic neck or back issues, or high blood pressure are discouraged from taking this adventure.
We want to hear from you if you’ve ever ridden the Comet Bobsled! What was the experience like? Did you feel like it was worth the cost…and would you do it again? Tell us all about it in the comments.
