If you’ve lived in Utah very long, you probably think you’ve seen everything there is to see and done everything there is to do. It’s my job to dig up unique things to do in Utah, and I’ve written about several you might have never tried. Here are 11 of the best things to do in Utah that might surprise you!

1. Stroll along a sand dune.

Sure, Utah is a desert, but most of it is covered in sagebrush. At Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, for example, you'll find sand dunes that look like the Sahara - and they're absolutely stunning.
2. Visit a secret speakeasy.

It only makes sense that you'd find a secret hideaway for liquor in Utah. Our state is full of speakeasies, in fact, which make for fun nights out!
3. Drive for 107 miles without seeing a single strip mall.

Take the drive from Salina to Green River along I-70, and you won't find so much as a single gas station. What you will find are some seriously stunning views. This Utah road trip is one of our favorites!
4. Take a ghost tour.

Whether you believe in ghosts or not, Grimm Ghost Tours will take you on the tour of a lifetime. You'll get to play with their cool gadgets, and tour some spooky, historic buildings.

Spend an evening at the Salt Lake Culinary Center, where they'll teach you to cook something delicious and then let you eat it.
8. Watch wild horses running free.

The Bureau of Land Management manages 22 herds of wild horses in Utah, but the herd in the Simpson Springs area is the most accessible. Watch these beautiful creatures from afar to avoid disturbing them. Seeing wild horses in Utah is one of those experiences that really needs to be on everyone's bucket list!
9. Hop on a bobsled and race down the track at 65 mph.

If you've ever wanted to take a trip to outer space, this might be your best bet. The Telos Discovery Space Center in Orem, Utah, has two simulated space ships and a special mission just for you and your friends.

What are some unique roadside attractions in Utah?

In terms of unique things to do in Utah, we have some roadside attractions that are next-level spectacles you simply must see! The quirkiest? Hole N’ The Rock is one of the weirdest spots you’ll ever visit, period. Hole N' The Rock is a 5,000-square-foot home that’s literally carved into a giant rock formation. It's also located on the outskirts of one of Utah's most acclaimed areas for outdoor recreation; an incredible surprise for folks traveling to Canyonlands National Park or Arches National Park. At one time, Hole N' The Rock was an actual family home; the cave-like dwelling belonged to the Christensen family. Over a period of 20 years, the family dug out a comfortable space for themselves within the living rock. The home opened for tours in the 1950s and has been drawing crowds ever since. It's unapologetically campy and undeniably awesome.
