You’ve Never Tasted Anything Like These 10 Unique Desserts In Utah
Is there anything better than dessert? We think not. Here are 10 unique desserts that will definitely make you want to skip dinner (Hey, you have to leave room for the good stuff, right?). Check these out, but be prepared to hop in your car and go get one!
1. Frida Bistro, Pastel de Mole Negro
The Pastel de Mole Negro at Frida Bistro is truly unique. The description from the menu reads, “Chocolate mole cake, dark chocolate ganache, honey-chocolate mousse, tequila-pickled cherries, and house made black pepper ice cream.” You had me at “dark chocolate ganache…”
2. Aggie Blue Mint Ice Cream
This blue mint ice cream includes bits of white chocolate and Oreo cookies. It’s only made at Utah State’s creamery.
3. Slackwater Pizza and Pub, Beautiful Disaster
A beautiful name for an amazing dessert! This calzone is filled with bananas, peanut butter, Nutella and marscapone cheese.
4. The BAKE SHOP Inside GFC 25, Strawberry Milk Donuts
The Bake Shop has tons of delicious desserts, but their most unique is probably the strawberry milk donuts (they also make a tasty strawberry milk cake). I can’t even begin to describe these round little gems of goodness...you just have to try them for yourself. 111 25th Street, Ogden.
5. The Chocolate, The Husband Cake
It’s true...there’s an entire cafe named after chocolate. AND, there’s two locations - one in Orem, and one in West Jordan. The cafe has a plethora of signature cakes, but The Husband might be the best. It’s several layers of yellow cake with milk chocolate ganache. In their description, they use the word “drench” to describe that ganache. Yum.
6. Veyo Pies, Veyo Volcano
These pies are so incredible that people drive for hours to pick them up for the holidays. You’ll find the shop in the tiny town of Veyo, about 20 miles from St. George. The banana cream is the most popular, but you won’t find the Veyo Volcano anywhere else. Order two weeks ahead for Thanksgiving - Veyo sells 400 pies a day that week.
7. Sweet Tooth Fairy, Cupcakes
Don’t eat just any cupcake...these won Cupcake Wars! There’s nine locations across the state to satisfy just about every Utahns’ sweet tooth.
8. The Dodo Restaurant, Tollhouse Pie
As if your meal weren’t tasty enough, The Dodo specializes in delicious pies. The Tollhouse Pie is one-of-a-kind. Get it warm, with the ice cream AND the whipped cream.
9. Dunford Donuts
The perfect donut, no doubt about it. Get it at the grocery store or gas station, or visit their store in West Jordan.
10. Green Jello
It’s Utah’s iconic dessert, though many Utahns have never eaten it. Find it at buffet restaurants and family reunions all over the state. And no...green Jello salad is still a dessert...NOT a salad.
